TBR Football understands that Chelsea have been closely watching Middlesbrough’s teenage twins Bailey and Anton Palmer.

The two 16-year-old midfielders are seen as two of the top prospects of Boro’s highly acclaimed academy, with Bailey having already featured on the bench for Michael Carrick’s first team.

The twins have both been named in England U17 squads and are seen as two of the most exciting players their age in the country.

Several other top-flight English clubs are set to join the Blues in the race for the teenagers’ signatures in the summer.

Chelsea and Tottenham closely watching Bailey and Anton Palmer

Chelsea, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Brighton are very keen on persuading Bailey and Anton Palmer to leave Middlesbrough this summer, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

The West London club have been keeping a close eye on the teenage duo as the race between Premier League clubs starts to heat up.

Bailey and Anton have both been named in England U17 squads this season with the latter having made four appearances for the young Three Lions.

But Bailey is the twin who has already been handed experiences with the first-team having been named on the bench for the seniors against West Brom, Preston and Blackburn.

The Palmer twins have both been regulars for Boro’s U18s this term with Bailey notching two goals and one assist whilst his twin has two assists.

Tottenham take exciting youngster from Chelsea’s academy

Tottenham signed Reiss Russell-Denny from Chelsea’s academy on transfer deadline day and their London rivals will not want to let them secure more young talents.

Chelsea fans were disappointed to see Russell-Denny go to Spurs with there being a real belief that the 18-year-old is an exciting midfield talent.

Russell-Denny plays two age groups above for England compared to the Palmer twins and he looks to be a strong addition for the North London club.
