Journalist Christian Falk has reported that Chelsea have set their sights on Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.
The BILD reporter took to X to claim that speculation linking the Blues with the 27-year-old is “true”.
Falk also suggested that Chelsea reckon Tah “could be the successor of Thiago Silva” at Stamford Bridge.
The journalist also said the defender has a release clause in his contract until 2025. However, its current value is unknown.
Fabrizio Romano recently said on X that Tah had an €18million (£15million) release clause last summer, but this was reported to have expired.
However, Kicker reported in the summer that the 6ft 4in powerhouse shouldn’t cost much more than that going forward.

Chelsea set sights on Jonathan Tah ahead of January transfer window
Chelsea have a good opportunity to sign an experienced and talented defender in January for a bargain fee.
At 27, Tah is very much in his prime, and he also has considerable experience at the highest level.
The ‘dominant‘ player has over 300 senior appearances for Leverkusen and has won 16 caps for Germany.
Joachim Low previously deemed him a “physically strong and very quick” defender for whom “everything is possible”.
As well as being very talented, Tah’s height and physicality will certainly stand him in good stead in the Premier League. Indeed, there have been comparisons to Virgil van Dijk and Dayot Upamecano.
With the likes of Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah currently out of action, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino will delve into the January market to see if he can bring in reinforcements.
