Leaked documents, reported in Belgian outlet Le Soir, say that Chelsea did not pay £32 million for Eden Hazard as was initially reported when he moved to Stamford Bridge from Lille in 2012, but was actually £28 million, representing a real bargain for the Blues who beat Manchester United and Manchester City to his services.
The documents also claim that the 25-year-old earns a modest £200,000 per week at Chelsea in his current contract and also earned a cool £2 million bonus when he picked up the PFA Player of the Year award in 2015 as the team romped to the title.
West Ham are preparing a bid for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as they look for a new number one, with a January loan switch the most likely option according to the Daily Mail. The Serbian is said to be unhappy at how difficult it has been for him to displace Thibaut Courtois at Chelsea and is tempted by the move.
For the Blues, it may be the first step to selling the goalkeeper who would likely only force a move away from the club in the summer anyway, so a loan move to the London Stadium could represent an attractive proposition for all parties.
The Independent suggest that the Blues are also preparing an offer for Celtic’s teen sensation Karamoko Dembele – the 13-year-old who surprisingly made his debut for the club’s under 20 side in October and has also played way above his age range for Scotland, with the Hoops desperate to retain the midfielder.
Manchester City and Ajax are also said to be monitoring the youngster and could attempt to persuade him to join them, with Pep Guardiola’s club the current favourites in the race for the youngster’s signature as he continues working to fulfill his huge potential.
