Chelsea have now made club history after recording a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Monday night.
Two goals from Conor Gallagher and a strike by Enzo Fernandez ensured Mauricio Pochettino got the better of Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park – after a wonderful opener by Jefferson Lerma.
So, what piece of history have Chelsea now achieved? Let’s take a look…
Chelsea make club history
Well, the Blues have now registered a club record run of dominance over Crystal Palace.
Heading into Monday’s Premier League clash, Chelsea had beaten the Eagles 12 times in a row.
Throughout history, Chelsea had never defeated any side 13 consecutive times in the league – until now.
Monday’s win over Crystal Palace signalled the first time ever that Chelsea have recorded 13 straight league wins over a single opponent – as shown by Squawka.

The last time Crystal Palace managed to beat Chelsea in the Premier League was all the way back in October 2017 when an own goal from Cesar Azpilicueta and an effort from Wilfried Zaha secured a 2-1 win.
It was actually Hodgson’s first win in charge of Crystal Palace.
Nevertheless, the south Londoners have probably forgotten all about that result now, as Chelsea take an unprecedented stranglehold on this fixture.
Chelsea still have work to do
Amid the jubilance of Monday’s late win in south London, Chelsea still have plenty of room for improvement.
The opening 45 minutes at Selhurst Park was dire in terms of attacking play from the Blues – Gary Neville could not believe how static Chelsea were as Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi simply passed it around between themselves.

In fairness, Mauricio Pochettino managed to turn things around by bringing Christopher Nkunku on for Noni Madueke at the interval, which helped Cole Palmer and Gallagher get into the action more often.
Hopefully, Chelsea can maintain how they performed in the second half for the rest of the season, rather than slipping back into bad habits – which were certainly on display in the first half.
