Chelsea and Arsenal found themselves in a bit of a transfer tussle in the summer, but it now looks as if the latter has pulled out of the race.
Enzo Maresca was a busy man over the summer as Chelsea welcomed 11 new faces to Stamford Bridge in a bid to build a side that can challenge for silverware.
However, things haven’t exactly gone to plan with four points from three games in the Premier League, which includes a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace last time out.
Arsenal remain unbeaten but haven’t been perfect. They dropped points against Brighton and Hove Albion last time out, which wasn’t helped by Declan Rice’s red card.
And, news of Martin Odegaard’s injury won’t have pleased Mikel Arteta who now has to plan for the Gunners’ next match against Tottenham without two of his star men.
However, it’s transfer news that’s been doing the rounds today with Arsenal deciding to leave the race for one player in particular…

Chelsea handed big Victor Osimhen transfer boost after Arsenal’s decision not to pursue
Interestingly, it has been claimed that Arsenal are preparing a move for Alexander Isak in 2025.
This makes perfect sense, given the club’s current striker situation. Kai Havertz has been deployed at the pinnacle of the attack so far this season, and Gabriel Jesus is the only other option.
For Chelsea, they tried to sign a striker all summer long with the Victor Osimhen saga running until the very last minutes on deadline day.
And, it now looks as if they have a free run at Victor Osimhen, who has been described as ‘world-class’, according to Give Me Sport.
The report states that Arsenal’s decision to turn their attentions away from Osimhen means that Chelsea could have a free run at him if he seeks a move to England for the first time in his career as the west Londoners are still keen to acquire his services after being left frustrated during the summer.
It’s understood that Arsenal stopped short of upping the ante in pursuing Osimhen due to ongoing concerns over whether his personality and character would be a good fit. Arteta was determined to avoid the possibility of problems being caused in the dressing room.
What’s next for Victor Osimhen?
Well, Victor Osimhen ended up joining Turkish side Galatasaray on loan but there is the potential for a future move to the Premier League.
Osimhen has a clause in his contract that allows him to break his agreement with Galatasaray should a top European club make a move for him.
And, it was claimed that the striker had written down Arsenal and Chelsea as teams he wanted to join.
Even with Arsenal now seemingly out of the race for the Nigerian striker, Chelsea don’t exactly have a free run at him as Liverpool and Bayern Munich were the two other clubs he wanted to join.
