Chelsea fans react to reports linking Conor Gallagher with transfer
According to reports, Crystal Palace are preparing a £15 million bid for Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher – and Blues fans have been reacting on Twitter.
The young midfielder spent last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion. During 2019/20 he enjoyed spells with Charlton and Swansea in the Championship.
Gallagher now returns to Chelsea and he’ll hope to impress Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Of course, that depends on whether or not the club decide to cash in on him during the close season.
Having spent time at the Baggies last season, Gallagher got a taste for Premier League football.
As a result, he’ll back himself to do the same next year and if he won’t play at Cheslea, he’d surely welcome a move.
The 21-year-old can operate as a central midfielder, or in the No.10 role behind a striker.
He managed 32 appearances for the Baggies during 2020/21, scoring two goals and registering two assists.
Those statistics might now earn him a shot at glory with Chelsea.
Selling him would perhaps be a risk though, with Gallagher possessing lost of potential.
Certainly Chelsea fans would rather he was only loaned out, as opposed to him being sold this summer.
Chelsea fans urge Tuchel against Gallagher sale
Chelsea do have a proud history when it comes to their academy and supporters are keen to see Gallagher stay.
Mason Mount has thrived in the Chelsea team, whilst Reece James also enjoyed a solid 2020/21.
As a result, supporters clearly believe Gallagher could do similar things at the club and have urged Tuchel not to sell him.
Gallagher is versatile to the point where he can play in a number of midfield roles and that could benefit the Blues next season.
