Chelsea fans react to reported Liverpool interest in Antonio Rudiger

Liverpool have asked to be kept in the loop regarding the availability of Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger, according to Eurosport. As a result, the Blues fans have taken to Twitter to vent their frustration.

Since Thomas Tuchel was appointed by Chelsea, the German defender has grown. He’s become a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge and helped the Blues lift the Champions League.

His performances have been exceptional but the caveat for Chelsea is that his contract is expiring. Tuchel isn’t blessed with loads of central defensive options and perhaps this news isn’t good.

With Liverpool now emerging as a potential suitor and Manchester City also in the mix, Rudiger will have plenty of options to weigh up in the summer.

Interestingly though, the 28-year-old does seem to be enjoying his football at Chelsea. The team are winning games and crucially, Rudiger is an integral part of what Tuchel is trying to do.

Rudiger has been with Chelsea since 2017 when he signed from Roma. He has made 161 appearances, including 12 in all competitions this season.

His future is now evidently up in the air though and it will be interesting to see if Chelsea can get him tied to a new deal.

What have Chelsea fans said about the Rudiger news?

It’s fair to say that they’re not happy that his contract situation has been allowed to drag on so long. With the future of Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen also up in the air, this doesn’t look good for Chelsea.

Rudiger earns £100,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge and in the grand scheme of things that isn’t a fortune to Roman Abramovich by any means.

Following the news that Liverpool are the latest club to emerge as an interested party, we looked at what was being said on Twitter by Chelsea fans about Rudiger.
