Chelsea fans react to reported interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing West Ham’s Declan Rice – and some of their club’s supporters on Twitter have voiced their uncertainty about the speculation.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea want to strengthen in the defensive midfield area during the next transfer window and are admirers of the Hammers star.

It is understood that the 21-year-old was released from the Chelsea academy and is close friends with current Blues ace Mason Mount.

The report explains that he would not come cheap due to the fact he signed a new deal contract at the London Stadium back in December, which is believed to be a £30,000-a-week deal (Sun).

Rice made the switch to West Ham’s academy as a youngster and has made his path into first-team football with them.

The midfield enforcer has become a vital senior player for them recently and has started every single Premier League game so far this season to highlight that.

He likes to sit in front of the back four breaking up play and also starting attacks from deep, plus he’s earned seven senior international caps for England.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media aren’t too keen on the idea of signing Rice, as he they feel he would struggle to break into the XI at Stamford Bridge.

There is already a plethora of talent in the centre of the park for Frank Lampard’s side including the likes of Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Billy Gilmour, Ross Barkley, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.

He could find it difficult if he ended up moving across London, but he’s a real fan favourite at West Ham and essential to their side.
