Chelsea fans laud heroics of £150,000-a-week player after Wednesday win

Chelsea kept their place at the summit of the Premier League despite a disappointing performance at Watford.

The Blues won 2-1 but they were forced to work for their victory with Thomas Tuchel calling it the worst performance since he took charge.

Chelsea won the game thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech but it was Kai Havertz who caught the eye with his display.

The German set the wheels in motion by assisting Mount to open the scoring at Vicarage Road.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Emmanuel Dennis gave Watford a deserved equaliser just before the break but Chelsea weren’t to be denied.

Mount turned provider in the second half, sticking one on a plate for Ziyech to score the goal which kept Chelsea in top spot.

It was the performance of Havertz that caught the eye though and he’s really started to showcase his worth under Tuchel.

After being signed by Frank Lampard, he initially struggled to get up to speed with the English game.

He finished last season with a flourish though and is now justifying the staggering transfer fee that Chelsea parted with.

The £150,000-a-week player has scored 13 goals and claimed 12 assists from his 63 outings for the club, with a large number of those coming under Tuchel.

What have Chelsea fans said about Havertz?

It’s fair to say that they thought he was absolutely outstanding during last night’s game at Watford.

From a Chelsea perspective, this wasn’t a classic by any stretch of the imagination but Havertz’s quality did shine through.

Last night he was sublime and Chelsea fans will hope there is more to come from Havertz as they look to win the title again.

Here is what supporters had to say regarding the 23-cap star after Chelsea won Watford.
