Chelsea fans react to performance of Kai Havertz during Arsenal win
Chelsea defeated Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon. Kai Havertz continued his fine form, scoring a first-half goal for the Blues. Tammy Abraham fired home a late winner after Granit Xhaka had equalised.
It’s rare that a pre-season game pits two teams from the same division to play against each other. The Covid era has made pre-season games in other countries tricky though and this London derby seems logical.
It was a decent run out for both teams. Thomas Tuchel will have been delighted with his team’s showing and the signs look good for the Blues going into 2021/22.
For Chelsea, this season could be special. After winning the Champions League last season, Tuchel will have the Premier League crown in his sights next term.
Manchester City will be the heavy favourites but Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea will all hope to maintain a genuine title push.
Havertz scored nine goals and claimed nine assists in his maiden campaign in the Premier League. He also fired the winner in the Champions League final.
The 22-year-old is one of Europe’s young sensations and he should prove to be a fantastic addition to the Chelsea ranks.
Chelsea fans buzzing with Havertz
The £140,000-a-week maestro is a firm fan favourite among the Chelsea fan base. Indeed, they were very impressed with his performance today.
Havertz only played the first 45 minutes but he looks sharp going into the new campaign.
After the game fans took to Twitter to discuss the youngster’s showing, praising his maturity and all-round strong display.
Here is what the Blues fan base were saying on Twitter after this afternoon’s victory in the London-derby.
