Chelsea fans react as West Ham reportedly eyeing Emerson Palmieri

West Ham United are reportedly interested in raiding Chelsea for left-sided outcast Emerson Palmieri this summer with the Italy international expected to leave west London – and Blues fans have urged their local rivals to sign the defender.

Emerson, 26, joined Chelsea in January 2018 from AS Roma but has since managed just 55 appearances for the Blues. This summer, Frank Lampard has spent big – bringing in Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, pushing Emerson out of the reckoning.

With Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso and Chilwell above Emerson in the pecking order, it is clear that Chelsea are ready to offload the Italy international in the coming weeks. He still has two years left on his £75k-a-week contract (Spotrac).

The Independent claim that while Chelsea are keen to bring Declan Rice back to Stamford Bridge after letting him go to West Ham as a youth player, the Hammers themselves are keen on raiding Chelsea for a player in Emerson on loan.

The Hammers boast Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku at left-back and while both have been regular members of the West Ham side over the past few seasons – both have come in for criticism of late, and David Moyes is keen on solving that issue.

Chelsea supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that West Ham want to sign their left-back, and many have urged their London rivals to take Emerson off their wage bill in the coming weeks. Some want a swap deal for Rice.
