West Ham have signed Pierre Ekwah from Chelsea on a three-year deal, with the option of an extra season. The 19-year-old midfielder has impressed in the early stages at Chelsea. But after a trial at West Ham, Ekwah has now joined permanently and Chelsea fans have reacted.
Ekwah joins in a move, similar to the one that saw Declan Rice leave Chelsea to join West Ham. Having clocked up just six appearances for the Under-23 side at Chelsea, Ekwah chanced his arm with West Ham. Playing twice on trial for the 23’s, he scored against Arsenal.
The France youth international will join West Ham’s Under-23’s side initially, with a view to breaking into the first team. French site RMC Sport claimed last week that the fee to sign Ekwah was £1.3million. He will now be tasked with breaking into the senior side under David Moyes.

He might have a chance, too. Mark Noble has already confirmed that the 2021-22 season will be his last with West Ham, while the Hammers already lack depth in the middle of the park. Josh Cullen was sold to Anderlecht last summer, leaving just Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek as options.
Chelsea fans reacted to the news that another of their talented youngsters has left the club in Ekwah – in a move that saw Rice depart to become a star in West Ham colours.
