Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea veteran Olivier Giroud before Friday’s 11pm deadline despite having played for Arsenal during his career – and Chelsea fans have reacted on Twitter.
The Independent have claimed that Tottenham are interested in 33-year-old Giroud with just 36 hours left in the January window. The report also claims that 2018 World Cup winner Giroud is interested in a move to Spurs, despite his Arsenal past.
Spurs are desperate for a striker this month after being linked with Krzysztof Piatek, Willian Jose, Islam Slimani and many other strikers this month. Harry Kane is expected to return to action in April after tearing his hamstring.
Giroud clocked up 253 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham’s bitter rivals Arsenal during his five-and-a-half-year spell at The Emirates. Giroud’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season, and a third London club could land on his CV.
The former Montpellier target man was supposedly set to form a reunion with Antonio Conte earlier this month, though a move to Inter Milan fell through – with Christian Eriksen’s move seemingly making Inter worried about their bloated squad.
Chelsea fans have reacted to the reported news that £18million signing Giroud (BBC) wants to move to Tottenham before Friday’s deadline, which would see Giroud join his third Premier League side – and add to his 225 Premier League appearances.
Giroud to Spurs should never be on the cards. Cannot strengthen a rival and especially them with that snake in charge

Why would anyone at Chelsea sanction a Giroud move to Spurs? While in the midst of what will be a tight race for 4th? Surely that is paper nonsense. If it is not, the club has lost the plot. #CFC

I swear if Giroud goes to Spurs

Giroud to spurs though. That’s funny. I didn’t realise Jose had lost the plot quite so badly.

Rather let Giroud count sheep for the rest of the season than join Tottenham.
