Chelsea fans react as Leeds, Liverpool and West Ham reportedly after Lewis Bate
Chelsea teenager Lewis Bate has reportedly delayed signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge – and it has put four Premier League sides on red alert. Among them are Liverpool and Leeds United, as well as West Ham and Southampton eye Bate – promoting reaction from Chelsea fans.
Bate, 18, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Chelsea. That is, despite being a very highly-rated talent at Chelsea. Despite only being 18, he was a regular with the club’s Premier League 2 side over the last 12 months. He played 20 of their 24 PL2 games. He even made the bench in the FA Cup.
An England Under-18 ace, Bate has chosen not to sign a new deal as of yet – as he looks for a club where there is a better first-team pathway. Liverpool might be pretty sideways, but Leeds, West Ham and Southampton certainly promises game time. The Mail claim all four are keen this summer.
What are Chelsea fans saying about Leeds, Liverpool and others wanting Bate?
At Stamford Bridge, Bate has enormous competition ahead of him. Even if he was awarded a first-team debut next season, the chances of him getting a place in the side on a regular basis is pretty much impossible. Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and others are the current options.
So, a move is crucial for Bate this summer – even if he is a proper talent that deserves a chance or two. As said, a move to Liverpool would hardly improve his game time. Leeds, West Ham and Southampton are all very good at bringing players through. Chelsea fans discussed his next move.
