Chelsea fans rave about 74-cap star during 3-0 win over Tottenham

Chelsea flexed their title credentials with a 3-0 thrashing of Tottenham. They produced a stunning second-half performance, with Mateo Kovacic in the thick of the action for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

The Champions of Europe remained unbeaten on the day that the football world mourned the passing of a football great in Jimmy Greaves.

Kovacic was brilliant throughout. He is proving a largely undervalued figure for the team and reminded people of his quality at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 27-year-old has started four of the team’s five Premier League games this season. He has also starred in the Champions League and European Super Cup for the Blues.

Kovacic has been with Chelsea for two years. He checked in from Real Madrid for a fee in the region of £40 million. The midfielder initially joined on loan, although that was quickly made permanent.

The 74-time Croatia international has made 147 appearances for the Blues, scoring three goals and claiming 10 assists for the team. He is one of Tuchel’s trusted players in the engine room and is keeping N’Golo Kante benched right now.

Chelsea have won four and drawn one of their five Premier League games so far. As a result, it would take a brave man to back against them winning the title this season.

What have Chelsea fans said about Kovacic?

Following his performance yesterday, fans have taken to Twitter to praise the midfielder. He was desperately good and kept things ticking along nicely for Chelsea.

Kovacic is undervalued in some parts. This performance against Spurs offered a reminder of what he is all about with his display energetic and particularly smart in the engine room.

Following the game, Twitter has been awash with praise for Kovacic. If would seem as though plenty of fans view him as integral for Tuchel moving forward.
