Chelsea fans discuss performance of Marcos Alonso after win over Arsenal
Chelsea flexed their title credentials with a 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Romelu Lukaku opened his Blues account, with Reece James also scoring. It was Marcos Alonso who earned praise afterwards, however.
Arsenal were brushed aside with ease. Lukaku was dominant, whilst James and Alonso were both mesmerising from the wing-back positions. On this performance, Chelsea will be right in the mix for silverware this season.
Interestingly Alonso has faced an anxious summer. Some reports had suggested he might not have a future under Thomas Tuchel but on this showing, he simply has to be.
The Spaniard is now 30 and has been at Stamford Bridge since 2016. In total, he has played 169 times for Chelsea and always gives his all to the team.
He played tremendously well against Arsenal and finished the game earning plenty of plaudits from the club’s supporters.

The Blues fan base have raved about the experienced wing-back. Alonso was a menace down the left-hand side and looked in great form.
The £100,000-a-week player scored a lovely free-kick last week but this work his performance was more of a workmanlike one.
