Chelsea fans discuss performance of Malang Sarr during 1-0 win

Malang Sarr was a surprise name on the Chelsea team-sheet yesterday. He started a Premier League match for the first time, helping the Blues to a 1-0 win over Brentford.

Sarr spent last season on loan with Porto having checked in from Nice when Frank Lampard was in charge of the team. He was expected to go out on loan again but Thomas Tuchel has kept him around.

With Thiago Silva not available yesterday following international duty, the boss handed him a maiden league start for Chelsea. He didn’t disappoint and showcased his talent during the 90 minutes.

Sarr hadn’t even been included in a matchday squad in the Premier League prior to yesterday. Tuchel wasn’t fussed though and saw the game as the perfect opportunity.

After Ben Chilwell had opened the scoring in the first half, Chelsea stood firm. Alongside Andreas Christensen and Trevoh Chalabah, the 22-year-old didn’t look remotely out of place.

It was three points that saw Chelsea head to the top of the Premier League and they’ll have a desire to stay there.

After this performance from Sarr, Tuchel might choose to call on him again. A clean sheet against Brentford won’t make him an instant regular but he does offer another option.

What have Chelsea fans said about Sarr?

It’s fair to say that plenty of them were in shock. When the team news had come out it was met with angst as Sarr started a Premier League clash for the first time.

In the Carabao Cup victory over Aston Villa, he had looked somewhat shaky and that made supporters sceptical. They needn’t have worried though and he looked very good indeed.

Plenty took to Twitter afterwards and here is what the Chelsea fans had to say regarding the important performance from the £120,000-a-week Sarr.
