Chelsea Under-23s were thwarted in their attempts to claim a big three points against Tottenham last night. Spurs roared back from 2-0 down to claim a share of the spoils, despite a brilliant brace from Harvey Vale.

The game which took place at the Lamex Stadium proved an entertaining one. Vale fired home the first goal of the night from the penalty spot after just 20 minutes.

He then doubled Chelsea’s lead two minutes prior to the interval. His second was a lovely individual goal which saw him use his lung-busting pace to waltz past a defender and slam a left-footed effort into the corner.

Vale’s performance was all the more impressive based on the fact that he’s just 17-years-old. He has been at Chelsea since 2016 when he crossed West London to join from Fulham.

The teenager scored six goals and claimed eight assists for the club’s under-18 ranks last season and looks set to be a regular for the under-23s this time around.

Last night was an impressive start to the 2021/22 campaign, although Tottenham could be denied. Goals from Dilan Markanday and J’Neil Bennett ensured a big point for Spurs at the Lamex Stadium.

The Blues are riding the crest of a wave under Thomas Tuchel and the club looks to be going places.

On last night’s performance for the under-23s, the club has plenty of talent coming along in the future too and that will delight Tuchel.

The French manager has called upon Trevoh Chalobah this season. He enjoyed a class pre-season and scored against Crystal Palace on his Premier League debut at the weekend.

That should give the young guns confidence and it’s certain to whet the appetite of supporters to see more talent emerge at first-team level.

Here is what Chelsea fans had to say about Vale on Twitter as he stole the show during last night’s draw against Tottenham.
