Chelsea fans discuss performance of £100,000-a-week player after Manchester United draw
Chelsea have seen their lead at the top of the Premier League cut to a single point after yesterday’s draw with Manchester United.
Thomas Tuchel’s men were against a battling Red Devils outfit who sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer just a week ago.
Jadon Sancho fired United into the lead five minutes after the half-time interval, with interim boss Michael Carrick handing him a rare start.
Chelsea flexed their mettle though and equalised through Jorginho who scored a typically emphatic penalty kick.
With Manchester City beating West Ham 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the day, the title race has become somewhat more interesting.
Of course, there is a long way to go and Chelsea have a few injury concerns now starting to stack up.
Following yesterday’s game, discussion on social media turned to the performance of Hakim Ziyech.
He was handed another chance to start and he will be desperate to prove himself to the supporters.
The former Ajax man checked in during the summer of 2020 and didn’t particularly enjoy a fantastic maiden season in England.
This term he has found the net twice and claimed three assists during 13 outings for the Blues.
Yesterday, he operated as a number 10 and showed some promising moments.
What have Chelsea fans said about Ziyech?
Plenty were pretty pleased with his performance yesterday against the Red Devils. United came to make life difficult for the Blues and it wasn’t as easy as some neutrals might have thought.
Ziyech at 28 really needs to start putting a consistent run of form together. He can’t be considered young any longer and now is the time for him to start shining.
This performance will have helped his case for more chances. In the absence of other players, Ziyech can only keep producing the goods on a regular basis.
Following yesterday’s game, here is what Chelsea supporters have been saying about the £100,000-a-week Ziyech.
