Jordan Pickford produced a decent performance for Everton on Monday night at Stamford Bridge, despite failing to prevent his side from losing 2-0 to Thomas Tuchel’s side – and Chelsea fans have raved about the England goalkeeper’s efforts.
Pickford, 27, conceded goals either side of the half-time whistle. The first, an effort from Kai Havertz that was inadvertently deflected into the back of his own net by in-form defender Ben Godfrey. Pickford conceded a penalty in the second half.
There was little the England stopper could do. He had to run off his line and close the impressive Havertz down, but the fleet-footed German was too quick for the £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) goalkeeper and Pickford brought him down.

Jorginho scored, using his trademark penalty style. But Pickford did enjoy a good night between the sticks, producing a marvellous one-handed save to tip Marcos Alonso’s effort wide of the post – while also denying Timo Werner at close range.
Chelsea fans have reacted on Twitter having watched Pickford’s display. The Blues could be after a goalkeeper in the summer with Kepa on the bench and Edouard Mendy doing okay, but not great, so far. Some were impressed with the Everton man.
One fan declared that Pickford was Everton’s best player on Monday night.
