Chelsea defeated Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium yesterday and after the game, Trevoh Chalobah came in for some praise from the club’s supporters.

The 22-year-old has been given the chance to shine during the pre-season campaign by boss Thomas Tuchel. He is taking it with aplomb and is giving a strong account of himself.

Yesterday he lined up in the centre of a three-man defence. Chalobah didn’t disappoint and helped the club secure a decent win over their London rivals.

The 22-year-old has embarked on a number of loan spells away from Stamford Bridge. He has been to Ipswich and Huddersfield domestically and last season for Lorient in France.

During his time in Ligue 1, he made 30 appearances, scoring twice and claiming two assists, playing in a number of positions for the club.

Chalobah can operate at the heart of the defence, or in midfield. He can marshall a back four, or operate as a more conventional central midfielder.

At this stage, it’s not certain whether or not Chalobah will earn a chance at Chelsea next season. Once Chelsea’s regular first-team players get back into their stride after Euro 2020, he could be loaned out once more.

Should he go out on loan, he’d surely have several Championship clubs vying to take him, particularly after his standout form during the pre-season campaign.

Chelsea fans delighted with Chalobah

The Blues faithful love to see younger players come through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and Chalobah could be next to make an impact.

At 22 there is a lot more to come from the youngster and perhaps he could become a squad player during 2021/22.

There is still a lot to sort out though and Tuchel might just be running the rule over him for now ahead of the new campaign.

Following his performance yesterday, supporters took to Twitter. Here is what they had to say about the youngster as Arsenal were put to the sword.
