Chelsea could replace Mauricio Pochettino with Xabi Alonso if results do not improve.
That is according to Dean Jones.
So, what was said about Xabi Alonso and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
Chelsea could hire Xabi Alonso
Well – according to Jones – Chelsea would not be afraid to enter a battle over the Spaniard with Liverpool if things do not improve under Pochettino.
Jones told Give Me Sport: “I don’t think Chelsea would have any fear over going head-to-head with anyone for a manager. Obviously, at face value, it seems very unlikely Xabi Alonso would choose to manage Chelsea over Liverpool, but right now, Liverpool haven’t made that move to get Alonso and so it could become interesting if Chelsea were to sack Pochettino.”

The 42-year-old has become one of the most exciting managerial talents on the planet since taking the reins at Bayer Leverkusen midway through last season.
Alonso has remarkably steered Bayer Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga – five points clear of Bayern Munich – after overseeing 17 wins and four draws from 21 league outings so far this season.
Chelsea would surely have to hire Xabi Alonso soon as Liverpool circle
In our view, Chelsea would have to start laying down foundations to hire Alonso now – with Jurgen Klopp set to leave Liverpool this summer.
A story from Foot Mercato claims that Liverpool have already made contact with the Spaniard as those at Anfield prepare for life after the German.
Therefore – if Chelsea really do hold an interest in hiring Alonso – Todd Boehly will surely have to begin discussions now, or else the American risks losing out to Liverpool.

In truth, the man from Tolosa already seems Anfield bound – he allegedly advised Thiago to join Liverpool in 2020, so he clearly thinks very highly of the Reds.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the Premier League prepares for some significant managerial changes this summer.
