Chelsea: Conte wants Swansea man; star desperate to leave; £55million defender bid

Reports in Spain, cited by Metro, have linked Chelsea with a shock move for Swansea striker Fernando Llorente, the Spaniard who has scored six goals in 15 games in the Premier League this season since signing for the Welsh side for a fee believed to be worth around £5 million in the summer.

The dominant 6ft5in striker is powerful in the air and would offer an option much more like Diego Costa than is currently offered by second choice striker Michy Batshuayi. The ex-Juventus man may come cheaply but it seems that Swansea would be reluctant to allow him to leave in January.

However, that would be of little consolation as the Sun claim that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is desperate to complete a move to Madrid with Real Madrid hoping to secure his signature in the summer and are confident that he may not even be a costly addition once negotiations with Chelsea are complete.

The Belgian has a Spanish fiancee and is hoping to return to the city where he spent two years on loan at Atletico Madrid and wants to return to the city where he rose to fame.

The Daily Mail say that the club are also prepared to launch a £55 million bid for Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk as they seek to add to their defence. However, they may face a challenge from Manchester City for the Dutchman either in January or in the summer.

Van Dijk, who has worn the captain’s armband for the Saints at times this season, is in no hurry to leave and his club are reluctant to sell, but a move could be completed in the summer which would fit with Manchester City’s plans. This also seems to rubbish rumours of a £25 million buy out clause in his contract.
