Chelsea: Conte wants reunion with Bayern man; Fabregas exit delayed; favourites for midfielder
The Sun claim that Antonio Conte is preparing to launch a £34 million bid to reunite with his former Juventus star in the form of now Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal as he looks to add to his midfield. The Chilean would reportedly be available for around £40 million.
The 29-year-old has gained plaudits for his superb performances for Chile and whilst at Juventus but questions have been asked over his attitude whilst in Germany and he may now be prepared to consider his options should Chelsea make him an offer.
He could be a direct replacement for Cesc Fabregas as Corriere Dello Sport claim that AC Milan want to make him their first signing under new ownership, but that the process won’t be completed in time to secure a January move so the deal will take place in the summer.
Fabregas has worked his way back into the team under Antonio Conte of late with some good performances but is still expected to depart Stamford Bridge after there were attempts to sell the former Barcelona man in the summer as Conte was unconvinced by him in pre-season.
An alternative to replace Fabregas could be Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia, with Calciomercato saying that both Juventus and Inter Milan have pulled out of the running as they do not wish to meet the Rome club’s £21 million asking price for the 30-year-old in January.
Biglia may still remain at Lazio, having been offered almost double his current wage to sign a new contract, but has hesitated on a new deal which has sparked this speculation. Antonio Conte knows the creative midfielder well from his time in Italy but it seems that the club would make a big money move for him in January.
