With speculation regarding the future of Thibaut Courtois, Corriere Dello Sporto claim that a three man shortlist has been written up with Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak at the top of that list. The Slovenian 23-year-old was named La Liga’s best goalkeeper with the most clean sheets last season after conceding only 18 goals in 38 games.
The other two names on the list are believed to be AC Milan’s talented young goalkeeper Gigi Donnarumma and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Yann Sommer, with Antonio Conte hoping to find a quick solution should Courtois choose to leave the club.
Conte is also eyeing up a move for Radja Nainggolan according to the Times, with the Italian manager desperate to get the man he missed out on in the summer. The sale of Oscar could now help to fund a £30 million January bid for the Roma star despite his reluctance to make a move.
Conte now believes that the very real prospect of winning the Premier League within months of his arrival may tempt the Belgian into making the move from Rome to London but the 28-year-old may still choose to remain in Italy as he fights for the Serie A title.
In form forward Pedro, who scored twice for the Blues in victory over Bournemouth yesterday, has spoken to explain why things fell apart under Jose Mourinho after his arrival last summer as he said:
“It was about everything, everything just wasn’t right. We were very low in the league, the spirits were very low, the trust was very low, everything was going wrong. It made it very difficult to be fit, to be in a good position. It was just the whole thing – it wasn’t right.”
The ex-Barcelona man is now in much better form and seemingly enjoying his football much more under the management of Antonio Conte.
