Chelsea have had an interesting season to say the least.
Chelsea were seen as title contenders before Christmas, but, now, the Blues are hanging onto a Champions League place, and questions have been asked about Enzo Maresca recently.
The summer transfer window, once again, will be vital for Chelsea, and the Blues do have a few targets in mind already for the summer.
Speaking on the Celnie Podcast, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Chelsea’s transfer plans, and, interestingly, he’s claimed that the Blues are fans of one player who is currently at Tottenham.

Chelsea remain fans of Mathys Tel
According to Jacobs, Chelsea remain admirers of Mathys Tel.
Tel is currently on loan at Tottenham from Bayern Munich, and Spurs hold a £40m option to buy Tel at the end of the season.
Tottenham plan on signing Tel permanently, but, if, for some reason, this deal doesn’t happen, Chelsea could be ones to watch here.
“Jamie Gittens is high in Chelsea’s thinking, you have Nico Williams who is a dream target, but the overall cost of that deal is quite expensive,” Jacobs said.
“There’s a few names there that Chelsea appreciate, even Mathys Tel who, at the moment, is at Tottenham, they’re the ones that have the option to buy, but if they don’t take it, we wait and see if Chelsea revisit that deal. If Tel is available maybe there is something that Bayern and Chelsea can do.”
Mathys Tel stats for Tottenham
Chelsea remain fans of Mathys Tel, but it has to be said that he wouldn’t be a gamechanging signing for the Blues.
Chelsea need experienced players who can immediately improve their squad, and Tel is not that player.
The Frenchman is still only 19 years old, and he’s not been all that good for Tottenham either.
Tel has been questioned since signing for Spurs, and the stats show that he hasn’t been all that great for Tottenham.

Chelsea would be wise to avoid this signing this summer, and, as Jacobs says, both Jamie Gittens and Nico Williams are more exciting options.
Chelsea do need to bolster their attack this summer, but it’s hard to make the argument that Tel is the answer.
