English Championship club Charlton Athletic are willing to listen to any offers for striker Lyle Taylor in this month’s transfer window.
According to South London Press, the Addicks offered Taylor a lucrative new deal but the deadline they put on accepting it has now passed.
The report says Taylor is not on the transfer list but offers with be considered for the striker who has seven goals from 13 appearances so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Sky Sports reported last month that Rangers are interested in the Montserrat international and this latest development should open the door for Steven Gerrard to bid.
TBR’s View – Charlton braced for Grant 2.0
Charlton were in the same position last season when hotshot Karlan Grant’s contract was due to expire and they took the money from Huddersfield last January.
That was despite the fact they were in the League 1 play-off chase – and they still eventually managed to get up without Grant.
So Lee Bowyer is no stranger to selling off a free-scoring hitman mid-season and remaining confident in his side’s ability to achieve their objectives.
It also makes plain that they are genuinely likely to consider offers and are not engaging in a game of bluff with Taylor, over whom the club’s new owners seem keen to take decisive action.
