Arsenal teenager spotted back at London Colney, days after being linked with moving abroad
Arsenal’s London Colney training base will be a much quieter place than usual this winter, with a number of Gunners off to the World Cup.
Big players such as Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Jesus and Martinelli have all jetted off to Qatar to represent their countries.
Of course, that’s left plenty of room at London Colney for those who wish to come in and put in the work. And that’s exactly what teenage midfielder, Charlie Patino, seems to have been doing.
Patino back at Arsenal
Taking to his Instagram stories, Patino posted an image showing himself back in the gym at the Arsenal training base. Posted with the caption ‘back at work’, Patino is clearly using the break in the season to keep at it.
Of course, Patino is currently enjoying a fine loan spell out with Blackpool in the Championship. The midfielder has blossomed at Bloomfield Road. Mikel Arteta chose to let Patino go out to learn about first-team football. And that’s exactly what he is doing.
Despite sitting second bottom of the Championship, Blackpool have put their trust in Patino. The 19-year-old has started 12 of his 15 games in Orange, scoring twice.
Patino has been linked with a surprise move to Barcelona this week. The Catalan giants are said to be monitoring his situation in North London.
TBR’s View: Good signs for Arsenal
Clearly not content with just having a break, Charlie Patino is obviously looking to get in front of his fellow pros by putting in the extra work.
For Mikel Arteta, this will be great to see. The Spanish coach is big on his players showing full commitment and Patino seems to be doing that here. Sure, it’s just a gym session. But it shows his desire and appetite to keep at it.
Arsenal have big hopes for Patino as we know. And with so many players away, he might just get to spend a bit of time around Arteta before heading back to Blackpool.
