Arsenal fans might not get their wish of seeing Charlie Patino make his first-team debut tonight against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup.
The Hale End star is knocking on Mikel Arteta’s door. His performances for the under-23s have been impressive and supporters are excited.
He boasts an abundance of potential, although perhaps the Gunners fan base will have to wait a while longer to see him on a bigger stage.
According to Football London, Arteta will ring the changes tonight. It would appear that the Spaniard will resist the urge to throw a number of youngsters into the fray.

Instead, Arteta will utilise a number of experienced fringe players to try and negotiate a way past Marcelo Bielsa’s team.
Given the way Leeds play, perhaps this wouldn’t be the best game for Patino to make his bow.
That said, he could still be on the bench and if things are going well for Arsenal, supporters might get their wish.
During 2021/22, Patino has scored once and registered one assist for the under-23 outfit. He has played in each game and also showcased versatility to play in different positions.
He also earned praise from Jack Wilshere earlier this season. After a game in the EFL Cup, the ex-midfielder claimed that Patino was ‘definitely good enough‘ and said he ‘wouldn’t look out of place in the first team’.
That should bode well for the future; although he might not be called upon tonight.
Is Arteta about to make a big mistake over Arsenal gem Patino?
It probably will be frustrating that Arteta will prioritise getting some minutes into his fringe players over utilised his academy.
That said, with no European football on the agenda this season, the Gunners will view the Carabao Cup as a winnable competition.

Patino’s time will surely come soon at Arsenal given that he’s showcasing his quality with the under-23s regularly.
Not handing him the chance to star tonight will provide a small risk. If the experienced players don’t do the business, Arteta could find himself facing the wrath of a disgruntled fan base once again.
