Aston Villa take on Southampton this weekend, with the Midlands club needing to get back to winning ways.
Dean Smith’s side have lost their last three matches in the Premier League, and sit just one place above the relegation zone but only on goal difference.
The team that occupy 18th position happen to be Southampton, making Saturday’s clash at Villa Park a huge deal.
Manager Smith has a potential selection headache on his hands, with striker Jonathan Kodjia scoring twice in midweek win against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
The 30-year-old took his chance against the Reds’ youngsters, but Brazilian Wesley also scored after coming on as a substitute.
Fans have been discussing who Smith should select to start against the Saints, and Nicholas reckons Kodjia should come in for his first league start.
He said (Sky Sports): “Wesley has to be the target man as that is how he wants to work, but he does not actually link up with the play. Because of that you have Jonathan Kodjia, who scored twice in the week, but he does not want to run either. What do you do here?
“Wesley scored at the death against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and he is more suited to them. I would still start Kodjia and bring the more energetic and determined Wesley off the bench with 20 minutes to go.
TBR’s view – Kodjia worth a punt
Smith should probably take Nicholas’ advice and give Kodjia a go up top.
Wesley may have provided a really good finish for his goal in midweek, but recently he hasn’t been good enough and perhaps needs someone else to come in.
Smith has shown admirable faith in the Brazilian this season but surely, for the good of the team, he needs challenging.
