Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that he believes Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard may be more suitable to Everton than Arsenal this summer, with both Premier League clubs strongly linked with the Frenchman.
Edouard has crept onto the radar of a number of Premier League sides this season after starring for Celtic both domestically and in Europe. The 22-year-old has had a hand in 46 goals during his 42 league and cup appearances.
Indeed, the France Under-21 star has scored 27 goals for Celtic – but has also laid on an enormous 19 assists. Nicholas claims Edouard is valued by Celtic at a whopping £40million, despite the ongoing global health crisis.
In a long-winded column piece about Edouard, Nicholas discussed whether Edouard would be suited to any other sides than Arsenal – and he picked Everton. According to a report from the Daily Mirror, both Everton and Arsenal are interested.

“He could be more suitable to Everton if they build their team in the right way. I have watched them quite a bit this season,” Nicholas said. “Dominic Calvert-Lewin has had a purple patch but Edouard is a better technical player.
“He’s got more about him than Calvert-Lewin and there’s no doubt in my mind he would be a very good buy for someone.”
TBR’s view – Even at £40m, Everton should go all out for Edouard
Since Romelu Lukaku left, Everton have been crying out for a striker to fill the boots of the Belgian and fire The Toffees into the top six of the Premier League. They have the manager in place, and Calvert-Lewin has tried his best.
But the Everton number nine simply does not have the quality required to make Everton a club capable of qualifying for European football. Edouard oozes class, not only in Scotland but has done in the Europa League.
At £40million, Everton would be getting a player who is still just 22 years of age. He has all the qualities necessary to push Ancelotti’s side towards Europe – and is only going to get better with better players around him.
