Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas expected Premier League leaders Liverpool to give their bitterest rivals Manchester United ‘a proper hiding’ on Sunday.
United are the only side to take league points off the Reds this season but Nicholas predicts trouble ahead for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Anfield.
He said: “Manchester United are going there scared. You could see Liverpool giving them a proper hiding. If Liverpool score quickly and get their two full-backs bombing, it could spell trouble.
“Liverpool are not giving up the belief they can go unbeaten. I can only see a very comfortable Liverpool win. The crowd will want blood. It is one of these days where Liverpool will flex their muscles. 3-0.”
TBR’s View – Liverpool saw off Mourinho and Klopp can hammer another United manager here
The corresponding fixture last season was the last game of Jose Mourinho’s spell in charge of United. That 3-1 Anfield loss was the final nail in his coffin.
Solskjaer won’t be sacked following this weekend’s game, but Jurgen Klopp has another opportunity to put a major dent in the reputation of another United manager.
Liverpool seem unable to shake their mental block at Old Trafford but there are no such problems at Anfield.
Nicholas is right to predict a clear Reds victory – United should not be able to live with their weekend hosts, especially with Marcus Rashford carrying an injury from the midweek win over Wolves.
