Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has predicted Aston Villa will lose 5-0 to Manchester City on their own patch this weekend.
Villa got a 1-1 draw against Leicester away from home in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final yesterday, but Nicholas was obviously not impressed.
He said: “I don’t see any real issues for Manchester City in this one. They were strong at Old Trafford, and that was without Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero. The only issue I have, I am not saying he is playing badly, is with Raheem Sterling, and he seems a little out of sorts with his touch. He could have had a hat-trick against Man Utd.
“Someone is going to take a thumping and get hurt soon, and I have a feeling it is going to be this weekend for Aston Villa. They may be back in the groove – Aymeric Laporte is back in training and Aguero is fit and ready. Kevin De Bruyne has been up there with Sadio Mane this campaign. What a player. Villa be on the wrong end of a hiding. 0-5.”
TBR’s View – Villa should take confidence from their defensive display at Leicester
Villa could have done more going forward at the King Power Stadium but they defended well on the whole and were good value for the draw.
City are capable of thumping anyone but Dean Smith’s side should be able to take confidence from that midweek display and Nicholas’ bold claim shouldn’t come to fruition.
