Charlie Nicholas raved about West Ham attacker Michail Antonio following his performance in the draw against Leicester City on Saturday.
The Hammers drew 2-2 at the London Stadium against the Foxes in the Premier League fixture.
It was Antonio who put the hosts in front with a bullet header in the first-half, before an all-action second period.
Jamie Vardy drew the visitors level with a close-range finish and substitute Lucas Perez appeared to grab three points for West Ham when he reacted first to tap in after the ball struck the post.
But Harvey Barnes got in behind the Hammers backline in stoppage time to level the match with a tidy finish.
Sky Sports pundit Nicholas singled out Antonio after the game following his performance and was majorly impressed by him.
He has questioned why the 29-year-old attacker doesn’t get more minutes, as Saturday was the first time he had completed 90 minutes in a league game since February.
“He (Antonio) does so much for West Ham,” Nicholas said on Sky Sport Premier League channel (5:25pm, 20 April).
“He is a little bit clumsy at times when he gets the ball and it gives it away rather cheaply, but his strength, his willingness to get forward is a big plus for them.
“I don’t know why you leave him out of the team so often. I would always be encouraged with that strength and that pace.”
Antonio once again showed his devastating ability in the air and he has to be considered one of the best in the division when it comest to headers.
He was effective as a right-winger against Leicester and caused England international Ben Chilwell problems.
Antonio certainly doesn’t have a permanent role in the starting XI under manager Manuel Pellegrini, but his display at the weekend should do him no harm.
His versatility to play in numerous positions perhaps works against him at times and he could do with a number of games stuck out wide.
