Charlie Nicholas is expecting Tottenham’s rough start to the season to continue when they host Watford on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.
Spurs face their London counterparts in a pivotal league fixture after the international break and both teams are struggling.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are ninth in the league table as it stands and were beaten 3-0 by Brighton in their last game, while before that was a 7-2 mauling at the hands of Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Watford are bottom of the top-flight table with no wins from their opening eight league games
Sky Sports pundit Nicholas doesn’t believe things will get much better for Spurs at the weekend and is predicting a 1-1 draw.
“Watford will be working away with Quique Sanchez Flores, despite some poor results since coming back to the club, with Tottenham coming back at sixes and sevens after the international break. They are all over the place,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“Christian Eriksen remains unhappy, Dele Alli did not receive an England call-up, with their unpredictable defence topping it off. More woes for Tottenham.”
A draw would be unacceptable for Spurs at the weekend and only crank up the pressure even further on manager Pochettino.
His players have had a two-week break to regroup and they should be chomping at the bit to get out on the pitch to make up for a poor start to the season.
Watford have really struggled so far this campaign and look a perfect opponent for Spurs to bounce back against.
But on the flip side nothing more than three points will do and there is real pressure on the players to deliver an eye-catching performance to go with a win.
