Charlie Nicholas believes Tottenham will edge out Red Star Belgrade in their Champions League group stage clash on Wednesday night.
Spurs beat the Serbian outfit 5-0 at home in the first meeting between the teams and it was a standout performance of the season.
The North London club have since been beaten by Liverpool and drawn to Everton in the Premier League.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team do sit second in their Champions League group at the midway stage and appear to be in a race for Red Star for second, as Bayern are the runaway leaders on course to finish top.
Nicholas has tipped Spurs to record a narrow 2-1 win over Red Star in their midweek clash.
The Sky Sports pundit has raised a few questions though over the team selection, as he’s unsure about where senior pair Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura fit into the XI.
“Red Star will not be fooled by what they have to do, but they will have been embarrassed by what they went through in London. If Harry Kane is fit, does Christian Eriksen drop out? Dele Alli scoring against Everton forces the hand there, but where does Lucas Moura stand?” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
With Eriksen’s contract expiring in the summer, he looks like someone that doesn’t want to be at Spurs and he once again turned in a poor display at the weekend against Everton.
The attacking midfielder should be axed from he XI by Pochettino for the immediate future and it’s time Giovani Lo Celso got his chance against Red Star.
Meanwhile, Brazilian forward Moura failed to make the most of his opportunity to start against Everton and isn’t quite at his best this campaign.
If Harry Kane is fit enough to return from illness, then it seems a no-brainer to drop Moura.
