Glasgow Rangers winger Ryan Kent “has so much to offer” but “can do so much more” following a difficult season at Ibrox last time out, Charlie Miller has told the Daily Record.
Kent enjoyed a bright season on loan at Rangers from Liverpool in 2018-19, scoring six goals and registering six assists in 23 Premiership appearances.
This prompted Steven Gerrard to splash out a reported £7million for the then 22-year-old last September, and he was tipped to be a game-changer in the Gers’ quest for title number 55.
However, 2019-20 ended up being a somewhat disappointing campaign for Kent, who failed to register a single assist in 21 Scottish Premiership appearances.

Although he scored one more league goal than the season before, in fewer games, it was hoped that he’d be able to provide more ammunition for the likes of Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos.
“Ryan Kent is another (talented midfielder who underperformed)”, Miller told the Daily Record. “I really believe that he can do so much more.
“It’s not having a go at him, but’s just that I believe he has so much to offer and it was so frustrating the way it didn’t work out last season.
“As I said, Rangers matched Celtic all the way through the first-half of the season and you really thought no-one was going to be able take that many points off the pair of them and the league would be decided by their meetings, but it didn’t work out that way.
“I really felt Rangers had a chance and they did do after winning at Parkhead, but you don’t win a league in December.”
TBR View:
It’s a shame how Rangers’ domestic season completely fell apart after the winter break, and while Kent’s season ultimately ended up being underwhelming, he was not the only Ger to disappoint, not by a long stretch.
With Gerrard already in the process of bolstering his ranks, such as signing Ianis Hagi permanently, plus Bongani Zungu of Amiens being linked with Ibrox, hopefully there will be quantity and quality aplenty for the long haul in 2020-21.
