Charlie Adam has responded to a fan on Instagram when asked if Rangers can finally end Celtic’s consecutive run of Scottish Premiership titles this season, and his response will have Gers fans excited.

Celtic are now in search of their ninth consecutive Scottish Premiership title as they continue to dominate Scottish football. They have won the last nine trophies available to domestic, top-tier sides.

Rangers, meanwhile, are closing the gap under Steven Gerrard and finished second last season – the first time they have done so since returning to the top flight. They have also reached the Europa League group stage for a second time in two seasons.

Adam, who played 77 times for Rangers and won the 2008-09 title, responded to a fan when asked if Rangers can win the title come May – and the Reading midfielder stated that Steven Gerrard’s side are good enough to do so.

TBR’s view – Rangers are showing intent, but Celtic remain consistent

Indeed, the Gers have reached the Europa League group stages again and beaten Feyenoord – an impressive scalp for Gerrard. However, Neil Lennon has got his Celtic side purring.

During the second half of last season after taking over from Brendan Rodgers, many criticised Lennon as his Celtic team struggled to prove as lethal in front of goal as they had done under Rodgers.

But this time around, Celtic have netted 21 goals in six games – an average of 3.5 every game. They look consistently impressive, which was proved by Celtic’s 2-0 win at Ibrox. Rangers are in with a shout, but Celtic are still very much favourites.
