Charles Watts says Charlie Patino will stay at Arsenal this season
Arsenal starlet Charlie Patino is the talk of the town in North London at the moment and according to Charles Watts, the youngster isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Patino has emerged this season as one of the standout players for the Gunners at youth level. Still only 17, the midfielder is being tipped by many to make his full debut this season.
There has also been talk in some quarters about a loan move for Patino. The teenager is clearly ready to play ‘proper’ football, and some believe a move to the Championship would be beneficial.
However, Goal’s Arsenal reporter, Charles Watts, has told his YouTube channel that he expects Patino to stay put. In fact, he even expects a new deal to come sooner, rather than later.
“Arsenal really really rate Patino. As it stands, he’s not really earmarked as one to potentially go out on loan, he’s more to follow the Bukayo Saka path in pretty much going straight into the first team – that’s the plan for Patino as it stands,” Watts said.
“Sources close to him are absolutely delighted with the way his progress is being managed so far. He’s very, very happy at Arsenal. He doesn’t want to leave, so I can’t see any sort of problems with him signing a new contract.”

Mikel Arteta will be licking his lips at the prospect of getting Patino involved soon. The youngster has looked exceptionally good in the under-23s, and won’t be far off making his full bow.
This is good news for entire club. It means they’ve developed an asset for themselves and can, crucially, spend elsewhere on the squad next summer.
For Patino, it’s just a case of keeping at it. He’ll need to keep working hard and improve his strength and fitness for Premier League football. But from a technical standpoint, Patino appears to have the lot.
