Respected Arsenal journalist Charles Watts has been chatting all things Gunners today and he revealed what Oleksandr Zinchenko had to say about their title chances.

Arsenal saw off Chelsea to add further weight to the argument that they can genuinely challenge for the title. So far, the Gunners have stood up to most challenges. The win at Chelsea felt like a statement as well.

Of course, City remain the favourites. But revealing some comments from Zinchenko on YouTube, Watts revealed that the former City man sees Arsenal are continuing to challenge.

“I’ve got used to hearing that Arsenal means straight away in your mind ‘top four, top four’ and I really want to kill and destroy this stereotype. We need to look further and I think this team, this group of people, the fans, deserve more,” Watts explained on his YouTube channel.

“We need to work hard and then see at the end of the season. You ask me if we can challenge Manchester City. Of course, they are an amazing team. But you never know in football and we need to go step by step with every single game.”

Zinchenko returned from injury against the Blues to good effect. Since signing from City in the summer, the Ukrainian has become a key cog in Mikel Arteta’s system.

TBR’s View: Zinchenko brings winning mentality to Arsenal

The signings of Jesus and Zinchenko could end up being the most important in Arsenal’s recent history. Both have brought a completely new way of playing to the club, with their mentality key.

They are both winners. Playing under Guardiola at City demands that attitude and mind-set, and they’re now bringing that to Arsenal.

Of course, Zinchenko knows there’s a long way to go. But he is clearly recognising the qualities his Arsenal side are showing right now and he’s every right to believe.
