Everton have recently been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva. As reported by Le10 Sport, Everton are hopeful of securing the Brazilian veteran to strengthen their defensive position this summer. Silva is out of contract at PSG and is yet to be offered a one-year extension to his current deal.
As reported by Foot Mercato, Carlo Ancelotti is driving this move. He sees the £240,000-a-week star as a potentially important short-term signing to help Everton elevate themselves into the elite.
Ancelotti’s involvement in any deal is undoubtedly good news for Everton, as the player is likely to be positive to any attempt from the Italian to work with him again.

Silva has played under Ancelotti both at AC Milan and PSG. It would appear that the Everton boss had a massive impact on his career and even his life.
Speaking to beIN Sport back in 2013, as relayed by Goal, Silva explained how Ancelotti had impacted his life and career.
“I’ve worked with a lot of coaches in my career, but one man stands out, and that’s Mr Ancelotti.
“It wasn’t easy for me to find my feet when I first arrived in Europe. When I joined AC Milan I didn’t play for six months. But I was training under a great coach in Carlo Ancelotti.
“I can’t stress how important those six months were – they changed my life.”
So clearly there is a special bond between the player and manager which has seen Everton start to show interest in the soon to be free agent.
Whilst Silva might be something of an expensive wage addition, especially for a player of his age, the 35-year-old has still been a regular for PSG this season, playing 30 games as captain for the side who remain in contention for the currently postponed Champions League.
So, despite turning 36 in September, Silva clearly offers something to Everton going forward.
And when it comes to trying to lower those wages, the reward of getting to work with Ancelotti again can only help Everton’s cause.
