West Bromwich Albion are “probably the best team in the league” in one particular area, Preston North End midfielder Alan Browne has told Lancs Live.
Slaven Bilic’s charges took on Alex Neil’s side at The Hawthorns on Tuesday night and ran out 2-0 winners to extend their lead at the top of the Championship table to seven points.
Hal Robson-Kanu opened the scoring for West Brom in the sixth minute and Jake Livermore doubled the Baggies’ lead on the stroke of half time.
Preston couldn’t muster a response and, to add insult to injury, they finished the game with ten men after Darnell Fisher was sent off in the second half.
West Brom’s attacking trident of Matheus Pereira, Robson-Kanu and Callum Robinson was once again at its devastating best and Browne was impressed with the opposition’s front line.
“I think their front three is as good as anything,” the Republic of Ireland international told Lancs Live. “Going forward they’re probably the best team in the league.”
He wasn’t in as much awe about the West Brom back line, however, adding: “Defensively they’re good but I don’t think they’re anything special.”
West Brom have overcome their blip to establish a healthy lead over Leeds United, who are in action on Wednesday night, and the form of the attacking trio has been crucial in this.
Robinson’s arrival on loan from Sheffield United has proven a superb move, with two goals and an assist in his last three Championship games.
Pereira is simply unstoppable when in full flight, while Robson-Kanu is not only enjoying his most prolific season to date but his off-the-ball work is second to none.
