Leeds United could do with signing a striker in January despite the addition of Rodrigo in the summer, with the Spain international being used as an attacking midfielder – and a recently-linked South American has become reportedly available.

In the summer, many commented on the club’s need for a striker, with Patrick Bamford being criticised last season. Rodrigo was brought in from Valencia, but Bamford has started the 2020-21 campaign in scintillating form.

He already has seven Premier League goals, and that has forced Rodrigo to be used deeper in more of an attacking-midfield role. With Rodrigo playing behind Bamford, it leaves Leeds without a striker on the bench – other than Tyler Roberts.

A striker should be considered in the January window and Leeds might finally be able to sign a long-term target that has been linked with the Whites on numerous occasions. Italian outlet Imperio claimed Leeds were interested Felipe Caicedo in 2019.

Some may remember 32-year-old Caicedo from his time at Manchester City. He has since become a crucial part of Champions League side Lazio’s squad, having a hand in 43 goals during 120 appearances since joining the club in 2017.

Now, Italian outlet (CittaCeleste) claim Lazio are willing to sell Caicedo for a bargain £4million despite the Ecuador international still boasting two years on his Lazio current deal. He has continued to impress for Lazio this season.

The powerhouse striker has scored four goals in 11 games, even netting in the Champions League against Zenit St. Petersburg and in Serie A during a 1-1 draw with Juventus. A bargain, at £4million, and one Orta and Leeds really need to take.
