The new Premier League season is finally upon us, and the likes of Tottenham and West Ham are scrambling to get those final deals over the line.

The two London sides have spent big this summer, with Spurs spending £65m to land Dominic Solanke as West Ham splashed out £40m to reunite new manager Julen Lopetegui with Wolves defender Max Kilman.

With Tottenham still in for Conor Gallagher as West Ham eye former FC Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto, both teams could still have a surprise or two left in the bag heading into the final two weeks of the summer transfer window.

Yet Tottenham and West Ham now face competition for a long-term target.

Bologna eye move for Tottenham and West Ham-linked Trevoh Chalobah

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Bologna are preparing a loan move for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, with the Cobham academy graduate yet to sort out his future having been left out of pre-season training.

Tottenham and West Ham both want Chalobah as the 25-year-old centre-back inches towards the exit door at Stamford Bridge, with a Premier League move on the cards for the Chelsea talent this window.

However, Bologna’s interest in Chalobah could cause some big problems for Tottenham and West Ham given that the Italian side will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season, a tempting prospect for the defender.

Indeed, the chance to begin a new career in Italy like so many former Chelsea players have done in recent years will be alluring for Chalobah, and the race is now on for Tottenham and West Ham to sort out their own moves for the defender.

Chalobah should jump at the chance to join Bologna

As mentioned, a number of former Chelse players are now thriving in Italy, with Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic all starring for AC Milan last season.

And for Chalobah, who Rio Ferdinand hailed as ‘unbelievable’, the chance to join one of the most ambitious teams in the division in Bologna should be something the defender is jumping to get involved with, with the defender ideal for Serie A.

Whilst Tottenham and West Ham are also good destinations for Chalobah, Bologna would be a clean start for the defender, and the Italian side would give the 25-year-old the love and respect the Chelsea star has been lacking in west London.
