Cesc Fabregas says one Liverpool player with 'fantastic quality' needs to 'do something big'
Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said his fellow Spaniard and Liverpool star, Thiago, needs to show consistency and perform in a big tournament.
Thiago has been pushed out of the Spanish midfield in the main. The likes of Pedri from Barcelona are keeping the Reds star at arms length.
It comes after a season in which Thiago failed to really get going for Liverpool following his move from Bayern Munich. Despite his obvious class, it took time for him to settle. Niggling injuries also held him back.
And Fabregas, who played with Thiago at Barcelona, told the BBC that he needs to step up now and show the world how good he is.
“I think Thiago without doubt has fantastic quality. I played with him for a year at Barcelona,” Fabregas said ahead of Spain v Poland yesterday.
“It’s time, i think, for Thiago now to do something big in a big tournament. He’s been at the Euros, at the World Cup, but not played that much. I think he needs to find that consistency to show everyone at the top level.”
Thiago finished the season better than he started for Liverpool. Fabinho being alongside him makes a big difference. And next season, Reds fans will hope to see the very best of the Spaniard.
Fabregas is right with Thiago, he can do so much more
The Liverpool man literally has everything in the locker you’d want from a midfielder. Goals, creativity, calmness, and a bit of aggression. In a nutshell, he should be dominant.
But something seems to be missing at times. Whether he just takes that moment too long or hasn’t quite settled in England.
Obviously, he’s a world-class player on his day. But Liverpool – and Spain – need more of those days. Fabregas, then, makes a good point here.
