Arsenal have a serious selection headache as they gear up to face Tottenham this weekend.
The Gunners have a real problem in their midfield. Mikel Merino is injured, Declan Rice is suspended, and the icing on the cake is that Martin Odegaard is also injured.
Jorginho and Thomas Partey are two natural replacements in the deeper midfield roles, but in the attacking role, Arsenal have a problem.
The Gunners sold Emile Smith Rowe this summer, while Fabio Vieira has gone out on loan. All of a sudden, Arsenal are short in this position.
Speaking on the Planet Premier League Podcast, Cesc Fabregas has been discussing how Arsenal can solve this problem, and he says that he’d like to see Leandro Trossard start in the midfield against Tottenham.
Leandro Trossard should start in midfield
Fabregas shared his verdict on how Arsenal’s midfield should look in this game and the £27m man.
“I also would like to see Trossard in midfield. I know he likes to come from the wing but he has the capabilities and qualities to play that role of Odegaard. A little more offensive midfielder, No.8, No.10.”
“I think he’s got the qualities to do that. Probably Partey and Jorginho will be the other two midfielders if I am not mistaken.
“But overall, it’s great to see young players making it into the Premier League.”

Trossard needs to start
Whether it’s in the midfield, on the wing or even up front, Leandro Trossard needs to start this game.
Trossard is incredibly versatile, so his mere presence on the pitch gives Mikel Arteta a number of options to rotate and change things within the game.
Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri are other options who could start in that number 10 role, but as Fabregas says, perhaps Mikel Arteta’s best bet is to use Trossard in that more advanced midfield role.
Trossard could be key for Arsenal this weekend against Spurs.
