Cesc Fabregas praises two 'fantastic' Arsenal men who have made him excited for the season ahead
Legendary Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has praised the work of Edu and Mikel Arteta to help improve the Gunners.
Fabregas has spoken to Sky Sports about the two key Arsenal men who are trying to bring glory back to the Emirates Stadium.
It has been a slow, patient project, where the pair have put their faith in young players who can grow together in north London.
Fabregas has been impressed and he is expecting Arsenal to show another dimension in the campaign ahead, which kicks off this Friday against Crystal Palace.
Fabregas hails Edu and Arteta
“I think Mikel is doing a fantastic job. I think Edu is doing a fantastic job,” he said.
“Not only for what they are doing, we talk about football people. Edu is a football man and he has had the patience and he knows what it takes to build a project. You cannot do it in one day.
“Sometimes the market doesn’t allow you to get the right player, sometimes you are too young to compete, as it happened at Arsenal for one or two years.
“They are mature now, the younger players are not as young any more. I see a different phase. They signed very well and they strengthened in certain areas that they were struggling. I am really looking forward to the season, it’s exciting.”
Arsenal have also put huge emphasis on the players they have got rid of under Arteta and Edu, being prepared to take financial hits to do it.
Now, the squad has to be looking close to how they want it, although there are still plenty of players on the fringes who need to go.
The goal for Arsenal has to be getting back into the Champions League and it will be interesting to see how they balance their European commitments this time around.
