It appears Everton might be about to welcome back a long-term injury sufferer to first-team action sooner rather than later, with Cenk Tosun pictured back in training with the rest of the group at Finch Farm.
The Turkish international has been out of action after a serious knee injury suffered during a loan spell with Crystal Palace last season.
In May, Tosun himself suggested to Sporx that he might not be back in action until 2021 but that now seems to be a pessimistic prognosis.
Whether or not the Sam Allardyce signing is set to feature under Carlo Ancelotti remains to be seen.
When Tosun joined Palace on loan he was due to sign permanently in the summer for a fee of £17 million, as reported by The Sun.
Injury obviously scuppered that deal but Tosun has not played for Everton since the 0-0 draw with Arsenal in December 2019.
But with Moise Kean out on loan with PSG, there is certainly space in Carlo Ancelotti’s team for another striker and Tosun is still a popular member of the Everton first-team group.
It would not be a surprise if he does find himself a role in the Everton first-team before the end of the season.
