Timothy Weah has shocked Celtic fans with his eye-catching start to life at Celtic, with three goals in his 10 league and cup appearances for the Scottish champions. But it is on Instagram where he is most active.
The 18-year-old is busy on the social media platform. But his latest bit of activity might have just got him in trouble with his parent club following their 3-1 Champions League defeat to Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side went into the match with the odds stacked against them. A 2-0 loss in the first leg seemed daunting, but United earned a 3-1 win – with the help of VAR in the final minutes.
Weah, who remains on the books at PSG and has a contract with the French giants until the summer of 2021, showed his lack of care for his parent club being knocked out on Insta. He did so, by congratulating United’s Tahith Chong.
TBR’s view
If anything, this is a boost for Celtic. Weah will have only hampered relations with his parent club and the likelihood that they send him out on loan or even permanently in the summer is more likely.
Eight-time USA international Weah has already expressed his delight to be playing for Celtic. The attacker – and son of George – seems to be really enjoying his time at Parkhead.
The Instagram comment then shows that Weah hardly cares that PSG were knocked out and if the chances of him leaving increase because of his message to Chong, Celtic may prove to be the beneficiaries.
