Celtic’s season will be defined by next six fixtures

Celtic will resume football after the international break with a pivotal set of fixtures that are likely to define their season.

The Bhoys are nicely set up in a number of competitions, but it could go either extremely well for them or they could be left in a precarious position for the first time under manager Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic v Hibernian (Scottish Premiership), October 20

Third-placed Celtic host second-placed Hibernian immediately after the international break and they are separated by just one point in the table. It’s likely to be a closely contested battle between them, but the quality of Rodgers’ side may just shine through at Parkhead.

Prediction: Celtic 2-1 Hibernian

RB Leipzig v Celtic (Europa League group stages), October 25

These two teams are effectively battling it out for second in the Europa League group, with Red Bull Salzburg out in front and looking unstoppable. Celtic will need to be at their very best to get something out in Germany and may fall just short against quality opponents.

Prediction: RB Leipzig 3-1 Celtic

Hearts v Celtic (Scottish League Cup), October 28

The busy fixture list pits Celtic in a League Cup semi-final just days after a trip to Germany, but their big game experience could just give them a slight edge over Hearts.

Dundee v Celtic (Scottish Premiership) October 31

Dundee are bottom of the league table as it stands and look in for a tough season, which is why Celtic will be overwhelming favourites to go their and win comfortably. They have a number of attacking options that are still yet to hit top form and at some point it will click for them.

Prediction Dundee 0-3 Celtic

Celtic v Hearts (Scottish Premiership) November 3

Hearts have to be considered serious title contenders if they go to Parkhead and get three points, but this could be the game that Celtic remind people they are still the best team in Scotland. It’s going to be difficult against Craig Levein’s talented outfit, but they have too many experienced players that know what it takes in the crucial moments.

Prediction: Celtic 2-1 Hearts

Celtic v RB Leipzig (Europa League group stages), November 8

It’s likely Celtic are going to need to win this game to have any chance of qualifying out of their difficult European group, but it could just be a step too far for them. They are going to give it a right go that’s for sure, but their opponents have some sensational talents in the shape of Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg.

Prediction: Celtic 2-2 RB Leipzig
